Project Idea: In the absence of clean water for agricultural fields in Palestine, the Blue Filter is designed to filter the high amount of pollutants (nitrates, salinity, and chloride) from water. The water treatment reduces the percentage of nitrate from 100% to 2 %, and of chloride from 100 % to 40 %, for farmers engaging in environmentally friendly practices. The innovation is a (plastic or metal) mould filled with treated plant seeds and then placed in water basins for treatment. This project will help farmers to get clean water for irrigation through green technology applied directly at the farm, with no need for transportation. It is expected to improve farmers’ financial condition (and create job opportunities) by 70% and increase the productivity of agricultural crops by 80 %.
